Meet Stevan Orser DDS, AAACD
I grew up in Morton Grove, the second oldest of four in a blue-collar family. I enjoyed art (drawing, painting) and sports as a youngster. Always the tallest in my class, I naturally took up basketball and played on the varsity team at Notre Dame high school in Niles, Illinois. Focusing on sports, I led the team not only as captain, but also in scoring – setting some long-standing school records.
While growing up, my parents placed a strong emphasis on education, which helped guide me to my current profession. Art was always a strong interest for me, so a career that involved dexterity and vision was of primary importance.
After considering several options for college, I chose Loyola University for its science, medical and dental programs. My main goal was to attend dental school, so my undergraduate courses were focused on that purpose. In undergrad I majored in psychology, but kept my art interests going studying sculpting and pottery. I continued my basketball career while at college and juggled the busy schedule of a student athlete. Often traveling for games during winter exams, I frequently took tests in advance or “hit the books” while on the road.
After college, I attended Loyola University School of Dentistry. With sports completed, I focused more on the class room. My four years of dental education seemed to fly by, my art/dexterity interests were satisfied by “hands on” prosthetic and restorative dentistry. My senior year I planned a general practice residency at Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center. That program completed my five years of formal dental training.
Currently, I take up to six times the required number of continuing education hours each year in the areas of aesthetic dentistry, restorative dentistry and bite function.
My career has had three phases. Initially, I joined a practice with a great dentist who influenced my interest in bite problems and rehabilitative dentistry. Learning all that I could from him and attending continuing education courses added new dimensions to my understanding and ability to treat difficult dental problems.
This postgraduate training led to my next career phase: cosmetic dentistry. I soon realized my passion for cosmetic dentistry because it allowed me to use the artistic skills that I had enjoyed since childhood. Sculpting teeth, blending color and creating a whole new look for patients added an even greater joy to an already fulfilling career. These two phases of training and growth supplied the foundation for the third, and current, phase of my career.
In addition to creating life-changing smiles at my Arlington Heights practice, I teach other dentists at the prestigious Eubank Teaching Institute in Plano, Texas. I’m also a visiting faculty member at UCLA. Educating others about dental concepts and techniques has further deepened my understanding and appreciation of the dental profession. I currently serve as an accredited examiner for the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
- Accredited Member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry
- American Dental Association*
- Chicago Dental Society

- Accreditation in the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry

- Special mention: All-State Illinois Basketball Honor
My wife, Lisa, and I have lived in Lake Zurich for 26 years, and we also work together at our dental office. We have three adult children, the oldest two were art majors, one works as a college professor and the other is a television commercial creator. The youngest is in sports business here in Chicago.
I enjoy spending time with my family, boating on Lake Michigan and fulfilling the mission of my practice: to help people feel good about themselves by applying my skills and artistic talents to restoring, maintaining and enhancing their smiles.
